Queen of Queens

For nearly 3 years, this model has been sitting in the proverbial “ Shelf of Doom”, ready for spurts of inspiration to hit and pass quickly with minimal to no progress whatsoever.

Obliviously with focus on clients and sponsors I don’t get as much ME model time as before. With this build I intend to get it back up and running with some free time dictated by a more streamlined and regimented work schedule to finally put this one in the completed display cabinet.

So let me start by bringing you way back into the beginning of this build to catch you up on the ins and outs of where the RTR-X is at so far. MOst of you may know the vehicle, but if not you should Google Vaughn Gitten Jr’s Ford Mustang RTR-X and see what this subject is really about.

BAse of the Project

The base model for the RTR-X is a 1969 Ford Mustang in 1:25 scale from Revell which is one of their better recasts in m opinion and a great model to begin with. C1 Models provides the exterior modifications with their RTR-X resin transkit. As with 99% of att of the transkits out there, it does take some moderate “Modeller Skillz’ but was much easier and simpler to stall than previous resin kits I had worked with.

Provided in the trans-kit is the four fender flares, front lip spoiler, rear spoiler and rear fender intakes. All molded in grey resin.

Thankfully before Clearly Scale shutdown, I was able to attain their Coyote 5.0 resin engine. Say what you will about their business or practices, but His craftsmanship and quality is second to none. While I will be fabricating a different intake, I can still use the offered intake on a separate build in the future. TO THE SPARES BOX IT GOES!

And there we have it. The base model and the necessary accessories to make Vaughn’s RTR-X in all of it’s glory. Next time I’ll bring you through the nitty gritty of the body and the chassis bringing you up to date on the state of the RTR-X as it stands.
